Vandals Target Club For Second Time - 3 June

Shrivenham Football Club have been left feeling frustrated this morning after yet more mindless vandalism has been carried out to the perimeter fencing just six weeks after a similar act was committed further along the structure.

“I’m almost lost for words,” Chairman Matt Hirst said after learning about the current damage.  “We’ve not long had to spend our own time and money replacing the last panels that we’re smashed up and now this has happened – I really don’t know what is going on in some people’s minds to make them carry out such an incredibly stupid and pointless act.”

The club will now face yet further needless expense to make repairs to the perimeter fencing and adding to the close season workload.  “We’ve had committee members busy redecorating the clubhouse and the changing rooms which all costs money, we had to find the funds to fix the last lot of damage and time was spent putting that right and now this. It’s just so frustrating and extremely disappointing.”

The fresh damage was discovered by Vice Chairman Neil Sutton and the club will now be forced to consider other options to protect the property.  “We’re going to have to look at measures to help prevent this from happening again,” the Chairman continued.  “That will incur further costs for the club, but there’s not a lot else we can do. We can’t keep paying out for repairs every time this happens, we’ll have to discuss our options at our next Committee Meeting.”
