Vandal Apologises For Causing Damage - 4 June

Shrivenham's Matt Hirst is pleased to report that following yesterday’s news that damage had been caused to the clubs perimeter fencing over the weekend, the culprit has been in contact and apologised for his behaviour.

Speaking about the incident this evening the Hirst said: “I received a phone call from the person responsible and they have offered me, the football club and all of the committee a genuine apology for the damage caused as well as their silly behaviour and I’ve accepted it on behalf of the club.”

Vice Chairman Neil Sutton found the damaged fence panels this morning just six weeks after another section of the fence was repaired having suffered even worse damage and the Chairman was quick to praise everyone who helped highlight the matter via social media.

Matt continued: “I’d like to thank everybody who reacted [to our social media platforms] after we announced the news this morning – we truly had a great response from everyone. Whether it’s been locals or those in the wider non-league world who have reacted having seen the news on the Hellenic League website, everyone has been supportive and I’m sure the widespread condemnation of the act made the culprit reflect on their actions and helped towards punishing their conscience to make them come forwards and do the right thing. After being almost speechless this morning having been told about the damage, I’m now just so pleased that they have shown the maturity to own up and admit to their actions.”

Concluding, Matt said: “During the conversation, the culprit offered to pay any costs and help at a future work party to help give something back to the club, so they have restored our faith. We know they could have kept quiet, so as far as the club are concerned, we’ll work out what’s best and then draw a line under it.”

Shrivenham Football Club would thank everybody who responded to our article today and we really appreciate your continued support.
